Don't agree with this at all but having a place where I can check if there is someone with a gun license in my area would be something I would approve of.

What about a register of people with chainsaw training? (who probably have very lethal tools at their disposal)

Or a register of people who are/have been in the armed forces? (many of whom have been trained to kill people)

High gun ownership is not an area I would like to live.

In most cases the postcode/area where the guns are kept is different from where they are used?

You maybe surprised at the correlation between number of SGC/FAC certificates and gun crime for various UK postcodes.

For example, 30% of all gun crime happens in London.

I am a member of Guntrader so presumably my details are in the hands of whoever reads the dark web.
My address wasn't on there just the county as far as I recall and no details of any guns I may have had, do have or want to have.
There isn't much anybody can do with the info and there was no map to my knowledge. There was a function to search by county for guns up for sale but that was about it.
As far as animal activists are concerned they were just as able to target gun owners beforehand by simply arranging to view the gun advertised for sale.
Th hacking wasn't good news but I think a lot more has been made of it than reality, even to the point of ambulance chasing legal firms offering to pursue compensation on your behalf.

Is a factor in the decision if I wanted to live in an area, similar to being able to find crime numbers, bus routes etc. High gun ownership is not an area I would like to live.
That’s odd, why would you not want to live near people who police have cheacked and they have been found to be good community members with no criminal record. I’m a but sus of anybody without a gun lisence. They are either convicted criminals, have an aprehended violence order on them or are animal libbers or vegans.

To be honest I find this a rather strange thing to want to know. If you don’t want to live anywhere near a licensed gun holder that would rule a lot of countryside out as somewhere to live. At least I now know who I won’t be getting as a neighbour at anytime in the future.

That was my point really.

I assume all of my neighbours have shotguns and air rifles as a minimum, goes with the territory.

If you are a a criminal and want a gun. You dont go and steal a legal fire arm. You very easily buy an illegal weapon from a bloke you know isnt legit!.
Thats like saying if you are a drug addict you break into boots for your fix.
When my sister was the Pharmacist at Croydon Boots in the 90s it was broken into & all the methadone was stolen.

Nothing is safe, or has been safe for a long time now!
