Investors / crowd funding

Just wondering if people have used outside investors to help fund small scale (initially) diversifications? Or anyone had success with crowd funding?

Peer to peer lending is also something that has been mentiined to me, I think Anglian Farmers offer this.

I think the AF scheme is more about annual cash flow, such as fertiliser and chemical purchase, rather than business start up.
I may be wrong though.
I am interested on the other side of the fence, having placed some money in such schemes

Yes I think you are you right, maybe i wasnt specific enough. Im not looking at start up as such (not in this example anyway, I have plenty of other ideas though) just mulling over ways forward for my firewood business. 80% sure I want to expand by investing in a lot more quality cord wood (stock). Before, I have salvaged stock from my own woodland/countryside work and from other farmers and about 25% bought in cord wood.

Cwrw Iâl Community Brewing Company was born from the vision of two locals who were keen home brewers. They dreamt of taking their exceptionally good ale to the big time. Over 2 years of blood, sweat and beers they honed their skills and accumulated a large local following.

In keeping with the village social enterprise entrepreneurial spirit they decided to go for it and Cwrw Iâl Community Brewing Company was born. Now they just needed some large shiny vessels!

This was started last year locally with investment from local enthusiasts.

Profits will be reinvested into community projects.
