Invitation to take part in Farming Safety Workshop

Hello all,
I am organising a Farm Safety and Non-Technical Skills workshop, hosted by the University of Aberdeen on the 26th of April. I would like to extend an invitation to those of you who are local to the area (Aberdeenshire) or who are prepared to travel, to take part in the workshop.

The aim of the workshop is to discuss research examining non-technical skills (NTS) in agriculture. NTS are the social and cognitive skills that, alongside technical knowledge, have been shown to be essential to maintain safe and effective performance across a range of industries. Previous research has assessed NTS in aviation, offshore drilling, healthcare and nuclear power. This has resulted in the development of training programmes and interventions, which have increased safety and reduced accident rates in those industries. The question is whether NTS training and interventions could potentially help to reduce farming accidents and injuries.

During the event you will hear presentations from University of Aberdeen researchers, Human Factors consultants, and a representative from HSE and IOSH. You will also be invited to take part in group discussions. We are keen to hear your insight and opinions on NTS in Agriculture, based on your experience and perspective. With the help of attendees like you, we hope to end the event with a plan of action to take NTS in Agriculture forward.

If you would like to come along in person (even if you can only pop along for a couple of hours), please send me an email ([email protected]) so that I can forward you the official invitation and add you to the attendee list. There will also be an option to take part in an online capacity, but at the moment I am just gathering people who want to come along in person. Thanks :)
