Invoicing software suggestions

I hope to help and takeover from my father on his land one day if he will let me (discussed on another thread) but as a closed off person he doesnt give anyone an inch. I was thinking of doing odd jobs and services for other local farmers to gain experience and trust in the community. I know most would deal with cash in hands but what finance apps would people suggest for simple invoices. Just something like paypal or would a more detailed app be better to monitor my progress, essentially as a self employed experience.

The key will be keeping track of all income and expenses, to enable you to submit a personal tax return (which you will need to register for with HMRC if intending to undertake self-employment work alongside your employment income).

If you are happy doing this via your personal bank account then exporting transactions into Excel and tracking them is fine, otherwise you may want to consider something like Xero. You can receive income into that via Paypal, direct debit and/or cash deposit.

If you went with something like Xero, invoices can be raised through that, otherwise paper invoices are obviously still widely used within farming, or you can get specific invoicing software (I'm afraid I don't have personal experience with any to recommend).
