Iodine in water drinkers

My cows never go through the crush for something as simple as a pour on. Just pen them up and walk through them applying it on their back.

Mine go through 2 or 3 times a year to be bolused, wormed, vaccinated

Just put 20ml of iodine on the cows backs this morning. Seems to annoy them a bit, trying to lick it off. Fingers crossed it helps

My cows have had a good dose on there backs few weeks ago and keek putting bit in water tanks, will probably give another squirt on there back Tommorrow too

Just feel we have been having to get too many calves in the pen to start them of sucking so after years of reading rave reviews about iodine & thrifty calves on here thought it worth trying.
30 cows in court one side of centre passage been given it. The same number on other side haven't.

Didn’t see a huge difference to be honest.
I think giving all newborn calves a jab of Vitamin E + Seleium in subsequent years has been more beneficial in my case.

Over dosing of iodine will cause the calves gut to close up and an inability to absorb colostrum. Like a 3 day old calf is.

I would exercise extreme caution over pouring along cows backs.

80ml along cows back a month - 6 weeks before calving - can 100% say that it improves calf vigor and the want to suck at birth. Zero issues.
