Hi, just got my first iPad. Can’t find the instruction book in the box. I downloaded the Metoffice App weather forecast a few days ago and it was working fine, but now when I play the video there is no sound. YouTube and Facebook videos are fine. Probably something I have done inadvertently. Any help please?

They don’t come with instruction books, so you can’t RTFM. It’s kindof the point, so intuitive you don’t need a manual....

Anyway, on the right hand side there are two buttons - these are volume up and down. Try pressing the top one a few times, volume icon should appear on the screen, and you should see the volume going up.

Also if it’s just one app (having reread your OP) then try switching the iPad off completely. Hold the power button down, till you get the “slide to power off” message. Then restart it again (apple logo appears etc). If that doesn’t work just delete the offending app and reinstall it from scratch.

I Have already tried both of your suggestions but still not working. The weather hasn’t got any better outside even when I am better informed.[emoji846]

I just installed it and tried some videos on my iPad Air and the sound is working ok on the app

What version of IOS are you running on the tablet?

Could be a bug with the app, someone on Twatter about similar issue ....

Also check you haven’t got it muted in control centre - to see, swipe upwards from bottom of the screen.

No actually just checked. YouTube sound still comes through even with it switched to mute. Whereas the sound in the Met office app stays muted (as you’d expect).

I think that’s the issue.

Out of my pay grade that one. It probably is global, but perhaps apps can choose to override it. Dunno. One for Cuppertinos finest that one.

Don't have an iPad running latest ios but on mu iPhone I don't have that mute icon in control centre (nor in the customise setting) so unable to comment further.

That cured it,thanks. Otherwise it was going to spend some time in t he garden learning about the weather for real. Very wet again here today

Good stuff. Initially I thought the same as Philip Watkins. Mute must mean mute. But it was only when I checked it with that app I noticed that it muted the app (I suppose correctly) but not YouTube etc, so a bit counter intuitive.
