iPad lost dictionary and spellchecker

It doesn’t capitalise on a new paragraph either, although it does after a full stop. To be more precise, the dictionaries and thesaurus have been delete and re-installed and the keyboard controls are switched on, but still no spellchecking. I think it started with the failure to capitalise on the first word in a new paragraph, some months ago. Then a couple of weeks ago the spellchecker got lost somewhere.

HELP! I want it back. Need all the help I can get. Anyone know where it has gone or how to reactivate it for internet text boxes such as the reply box on TFF?

P.s. Rather oddly it is capitalising after a full stop today.
Also on a new paragraph. Did reinstall dictionaries earlier on. Still no doctionary or spellchicker.

Android is the way forward you know ...... :p

Been there several times. Its not that I don't like Android but their stuff is not security upgraded, or indeed upgraded at all in many instances from the first year on. Also I have an iMac as well as iPhone and iPad of my own, plus my wife's two mobile devices and my daughter's iPad iPhone and MacBook Air.

Come to think of it I have finished using Android and Microsoft altogether now. I've just realised this. :wacky:
So currently have no wish to be converted, only wish to get my iPad's dictionary functional for TFF. The iPhone's works perfectly and for the life of me I can't see any different settings. I've also upgrade to iOS 12 during this issue and it made no difference to the dictionary.
I'm beginning to think that it could be a browser issue. I know that NatWest and Farmwizard have never got along with Apple Safari, so I will try Chrome with TFF just now.

Here is my effort on Google Chrome and blow me down with a feather, it works. So the issue is narrowed down to Safari or Safari settings on that iPad. It’s great how just talking through stuff helps.

Have you had the IOS 12 update? I have and it’s slowly sending nme completely around the bend! The keyboard has a few keys swapped around! Other wierd things are happening aswell. Have not noticed the spellchecker is gone though.

Not noticed any key swops yet.
The spellchecker on this website's text box on the iPad had gone long before the upgrade to iOS 12, so it isn't that. Plus I have now found that it all still works when using Chrome and indeed works on iOS 12 on my phone. It is only an issue on the pad and only, it seems, in Safari.

In bed last night I compared the Safari settings on both iPhone and iPad and found only one difference which was seemingly unrelated to the spellchecker. However it’s back and everything works perfectly once more
It was the ‘ask websites not to track me’ switch. I toggled it and the spellcheck was back along with predictive text and all. Done it again but can’t repeat the issue.
Most peculiar.

Wouldn't touch Apple products with a bargepole ever again! And don't ask me why!
OK I won't.
Oh hell, yes i will.
My I pad started out ok then various things stopped working. Skype, Facetime, Plane finder,
'can't establish secure connection' message keeps popping up so cannot access loads of websites. Can't update to latest IOS only up to IOS9 so would have to buy a new one.
TFF keeps dropping out. I suppose they want to force me to buy an upgrade, well screw them!
No such proplems exist on the OH's Android.

Must be an original or iPad2, which don't get upgrades any more and not to iOS10, but should still work for most things. Something to do with going for 64 bit instead of 32 bit [whatever that means] That might not be the reason at all of course and it's just a thought.
Most Android tablets don't get updates to the latest versions after the first year. You are stuck with the old ones with not even any security updates. Don't get me wrong, I quite like Android devices and the only reason I have Apple at the moment is that I do like my iMac and the other devices all integrate nicely with it.
