I'm told that most cheap chargers will not work as apple stop them but some will? Any suggestions of cheap ones that do work, I need 4 for various machines? And I'm not willing to carry one with me, I know I will forget it when I need it.

I'm beginning to regret the move from android to apple, everything is so expensive

I have three different ones in three vehicles, all bought from Amazon, and they all work fine. I think I had one that threw up an error message but there was some reason for that, which I forget, and have had no bother since. A similar price to Android ones I think. Do have an Android mini USB car charger that worked twice and then packed up.

i have brought some off of ebay with some success not sure if apple stop them working but i found that the quality of non apple chargers/leads etc leave a lot to be desired and off the 4 i ordered only 2 worked

They are all fairly cheap rubbishy junk, whether for miniUSB or Apple. Only thing is, they aren't cheap. But they are a fraction of the price they were ten or fifteen years ago when car phone chargers topically cost £30 to £35.

What were the brands that worked? I have found out that Belkin, Kensington and energiser will work but they cost nearly as much as the genuine ones.

The battery life does seem terrible on my iPhone 5 is this normal?

Sorry to hijack how are you guys finding the signal? Had the phone for 8 months, I've got 3g at home and around the farm, but at work it's really patchy but the biggy I can only get GPRS in the farm office/grub hut:(!! Where as my old desire worked everywhere!

I bought 2 off ebay expecting to put one in my car and one in the pickup truck, both cables stopped working in two weeks, in the end I discovered the plug needs to be able to deliver at least 1 amp to the cable, some only do 0.8 Amp and that isn't enough. I ended up using a decent quality dual usb cigarette plug and the original cable.

if you have a usb socket on your radios you can just use the data cable to charge your iphone ;) picked up a few on e-bay cheap as chips, extra long cable, normal data cable and a 3 in 1 charger set, which is home plug, 12v plug and a cable

Are apple really that bad they cannot run 24 hours without a charge? I dont have a car one for my Galaxy and we went away for the weekend but forgot the mains charger, and was impressed it went 3 days before it shut down

Yes but my samsung is always searching for 3g (bad area) and the bluetooth has never been off, but then they dont have a massive Hype machine to sell them i suppose.
As an aside, my wifes has found yet another thing her Ipad cant do that Win 95 could... download a bank statement... so funny watching her get frustrated with it!

Compared to standard mobile phones the battery life of smart phones is far less and depends how much you use them. I charge my iPhone every night whether it needs it or not plus in most of the vehicles I have USB radios and cheap leads that will not only play the music on my phone but also top up the charge. The way I see it is I would not expect my lap top to work for days without charging so why would I expect my I phone to It is after all as much a computer as a phone
