Have you got it set to store the big photo file in iCloud, and optimised versions on your phone?
How about messages in iCloud-is that turned on?
Both of those features must save me 20-30gb on my phone. Still using a 32gb version here. Apps are over 50% of my space....and some I hardly use so could be deleted. Have you got the “offload unused apps” setting enabled?

Sounds to me like you'd benefit by changing your photo library to iCloud. My iCloud account has 47.8gb of photos I can access anytime and search through....yet only 2.98gb is taken up on my phone with photos as it stores the low-res version, and when you open a photo downloads and shows it as hi-res within a second or two.

interesting. ive got a 50GB icloud thingy but dont use it like how your saying.
Need to spend some time checking settings & see how to use it all best.
More than happy with the 4" iphone idea tho & have brodit cradles in all tractors/vehicles to suit them.

If you go Settings, iPhone Storage, you'll get a bar graph showing your phone storage usage. Apps/Photos/Media/Messages/Mail etc.
