Getting back to politics before this thread is moved to the dairy farming section..
Was listening to the usual, broken record statement from sinn fein earlier about how Northern Ireland voted to remain and that there'll have to be a border poll if there's a no deal brexit...
Then I realised what this way of interpreting referendum results could mean and I can't believe that nobody has pointed this out to sinn fein...
Let's imagine that there is a border poll and NI votes to remove the border, but counties Antrim and Down vote to keep the border in place. By sinn fein logic that would mean that the border would have to be moved but couldn't be removed

There are tankers of milk being driver from Poland to Ireland , figure out how that can pay. I meet the strategy lorries on the road and they are loaded heading south so what are they drawing down.

Not over here,they don't call it bandit country for nothing.
In the height of the troubles some of the army bases could only be supplied by air along the border. And there were 30000 brits here

Most borders are difficult to defend against criminals. Sure the Mexicans tunnel under the US border. Northern Ireland isn't the only place in the world to have the problem. Controls only impact on the decent law-abiding citizens anywhere in the world.

What’s the Brexiteer plan for traffic coming across the channel to the various ports?
Will there be checks? Been reading about checks in Dover for example. Twenty mile convoys crawling up the M20 for example. Lorry parks for example. Cheese munching frogs, not able to get their wine and cheese in without checks and tariffs for example. Greasy Italians having 60 million bottles of Presecco checked and taxed for example. And Jerry .... trucks of car parts .... oh, gotta check those ... thoroughly ..... back of the car park there Fritz ..... get to you in a few days .... be patient ..
Meanwhile back in Ireland, Paddy South is swarming over the border on main roads, bye roads, approved roads, unapproved roads, fields, etc, loaded down with beef, lamb, cheddar, whiskey, Guinness, more beef, more Guinness, milk, more Guinness, more Jameson, more beef ...........
and Paddy North looks on approvingly ...

Well, take milk for example, as I am a dairy Farmer. William north, could be required to record and declare each litre of milk or derivative product that he receives to his factory from paddy south, like he does with the VAT return. If he is found to be defrauding the system, he will have his license to operate removed, and face court. If the EU wants to protect it's single market, it will make paddy do the same.

Prosecco no problem. Italians have it sorted. I did the weekly supermarket shop in Morrisons yesterday evening. In the entrance piled up high was Prosecco on offer. Stocked up. Joy of joys.

And to achieve that is there a requirement for barrier at the border manned by a chap carrying a Hechler and Koch? I speak as a Lincolnshire fenman who has never been to Ireland.

How do control a border where you have a straight road and in the space of 1.5 miles you cross the border 5 times?

I don't think the British are worried about people sneaking across the border. It is the folks sneaking across the channel we are concerned about.
There ain't gonna be no border- neither side want one and good luck to any fool: May, Junker, Tusk whoever who tries to install one, they will be being shot at by both sides.

Quite. I do apologise to all you Irish posters on this thread - I sort of butted in with a semi sensible question but as is the case an infantile reference to a gun. Am intrigued by this border question as listening to the Austrian minister on Andrew Marr this morning it seems the EU is hanging a largish hat on the Good Friday Agreement and this border issue. Hey ho. As say apologies is I offend - not intended.
