I keep saying to people. We fought alone against the Nazis. You think we are scared of the muppets in the EU?
Am was it not the Northern and cut off half of the French army that bought the british a few days to even think about retreating and then held up the Germans at the likes of Arras and finally on the outskirts of Dunkirk manning the lines allowing the Bef to fall back and get on the boats?

Seriously, I think the post you quote is the most offensive thing I have seen written on this or any other forum

Yeah, remind me where they were when the Battle of Britain or Dunkirk was going on?

If your going to argue then please get your facts right. A lot of brave Polish pilots fought in the Battle of Britain one of which gave my father an engraved cigerette case made from aluminium sheet. He was a metal worker prior to being a pilot.

No idea. And actually, I don't care. But I am glad we are falling back and taking to the boats this time.

Your right.
We stand alone in resisting the creation of this Nazi Eurabia that is being created by seemingly peaceful means, those of economic bribery and blackmail, along with allowed 'invasion' of troops from another continent, with one aim in the end...... to take on and try to defeat and subjugate the mighty Russian empire.

It is the EU meddling in and expanding upon Eastern Europe and thus encroaching on Russia's sphere of influence that resulted in the annexation of the Ukraine.

And now they are calling for a unified EU army to extend their foreign policy goals.

This is extremely dangerous territory they are entering into.

Calls for the "return" of Crimea (which is, in all fairness, neither Russian nor Ukrainian, and there will be few territories in Europe with a similarly strong claim for self-determination) predate the EU formation. The EU can be blamed for many bad things, but not for this one.

Those countries with whom Britain wants to negotiate free trade agreements with after Brexit, must be shaking in their shoes right now. They are observing what Brexiteers predicted before the referendum and since the referendum.
They are observing sharp, incisive, cohesive, efficient tactics and negotiating skills by the British in the Brexit process.
They must surely now know that the trade partner across the table from them in future negotiations will be very very formidable indeed. They must surely now know that the future deals will surely make Britain great again.

Oh dear. Such scorn must surely come from a sense of the utter inadequacy and hopelessness of one's own country, which has never been, and can never hope to be anything of significance.

Very interesting and informative comment. So Crimea is a political football and will be for years to come.

And you don't think watching the EU trying to grow, supplant NATO and form it's own army in any way won't get Putin's back up?

Come along now....

I was just pointing out that the situation in Ukraine has very little to do with the EU. I obviously cannot know what is going on in Putin's head, but I'd chance a guess that all the external activity is just smoke and mirrors for massive internal problems.

It may get his back up (the EU incorporating sovereign countries that were formerly occupied / controlled as part of the USSR but prefer to be part of EU rather than the USSR) but is the EU or any of the countries west of the Russian/Belarus border actually aggressive in terms of wishing to occupy Russian sovereign land. My understanding, which may be wrong in todays Fake News world, is that none of the EU member countries with a land border with Russia/Belarus have any designs on amending the border.

Russia is still worried about further EU expansion especially if Turkey is admitted as it will put pressure on Russian Southern states.
