Did you get some cortisone cream? Once skin is sensitised by either your gloves or fluids then just takes a bit of exposure to flare up.

Unbelievable stuff, I used to put a dollop of e45 on each night and watch it soak in. God knows what it's made of, but it heals cracks overnight.

I concur with this. My dad uses it, I've used it in times past, although I use a hand cream my aunty got for me now :) but I used E45 on one of my dogs paws, who was prone to cracking, healed no end :) I would also take into account the soap used when washing your hands? Do you use washing up liquid at all? Sometimes soaps, depending on make, can be irritants too. I only use natural ones from health food shops now, as all the others, apart from simple soaps, irritate and dry out my skin. Hope it gets better soon will (y)

I figure it's just dermatitis. I had it quite bad when I worked for a chicorygrower which ment wet hands all the time. My mother has it very, very bad at times and has hormone cream, I use it from her when I have it and next day it's gone most of the time.
Try wearing very thin textile gloves under the nitrile ones to prevent your hands getting wet under the gloves.
