.....suffering from the cold that just won't go away? I've been feeling low since boxing day (and no it didn't start as a hangover).

It started off as a bog standard sniffle, then developed into a sinus smashing monster and is now back with a vengeance after a two week hiatus where I felt ok, but not better.

I've now had more time off work sick this year than I have in the last 3 and it's only 4 weeks old. I even missed a days driven shooting I felt so low (managed to sell it to a friend) Doctors are sure it's nothing more and that it's just that I'm run down (no more than usual) and unlucky that such a virile bout has struck me down.

Yeah me !.
I went down with something Flu ish Xmas day and spent a fortnight in bed, seamed to be getting better but not right. Then it came back with avengenace !, I can’t do anything for more than half an hour and I’m knackered plus I’m always cold.

Might go docs tomorrow as just not getting any better at all.

I am now taking garlic capsules, sounds a bit hemp and sandles, but I always catch every cold going and always gets o. My chest and feel like crap for weeks.

Well I read an article about taking garlic capsules and having 80% less chance of getting it and if you do symptoms are 60% less servers. Anyway so far not even had a sniffle while my 3 kids and wife have had it all over Christmas.

I’ve had it for a fortnight and had to give in and go to the docs as my chest was so bad, had a course of antibiotics and it seems to have cleared up now........I hope

Garlic, ginger, and tapwater: 3 of the most underrated things on the planet IMO

I got a right dose of man flu 3 Christmas's ago that laid me up for nearly a month and I lost over a stone and a half in weight as I couldn't eat and only barely managed to drink water. Shame the weight is back and with vat on top :ROFLMAO:. Anyhow last year and again this year I got the flu jab and I can say it's the best thing I've done. One or 2 bits of sniffles over both winters and I'd be the sort to catch a cold if someone 5 miles away sneezed. Herself is rarely sick but she caught a right stinker of a dose, runny nose, headaches, aches and pains the lot and the brother is just getting over a similar dose but touch wood I got away with a headcold for 3 days while both of them took 3 weeks to recover.

I've lost a stone since Christmas, 12 stone 5 now, might be right for BMI but no use for a manual worker outside in the cold !

The last week I've had 2 sofa days, been feeling cold, no appetite
No snotty cold symptoms & no temperature but no energy, just knackered

Went to Drs thinking it was anxiety / depression. I was delusional !
Got prescribed Fluoxetine (Prozac) & that made me worse so I stopped it

My birthday was last Wednesday, I barely went out of the house & haven't been to the pub in a fortnight ! Can't remember a dry birthday, must have been about 1981 !

On Friday I suddenly felt better & my appetite has recovered, what I found helped was proper full sugar coca cola
I reckon I was getting like a sick calf that gets pneumonia, you need to keep putting the energy in somehow even when the appetite has gone & coke got me out of trouble

Have a flu jab......... next year..........coz thats what you`ve got.
The flu jabs are trivalent (three-component) vaccines because they protect against three viruses: two influenza A viruses (H1N1 and H3N2), and one influenza B virus (whichever is predicted to be prevalent).
And yes there is swine flu H1N1) around still as we have 3 in ITU with it, one has been in 3 weeks.
Lucozade original works well. :)
