Is anyone in beef and sheep willing to invest money?

Never have thought there was any sense in spending money on sheds or any depreciating asset for sheep.
They have a warm coat so live outside and are very well equipped to eat grass or other stuff that grows!!

here it’s not the cold necessarily but the wet that gets you. Bridging the hungry gap means higher stocking rates year round and avoiding poaching is a big plus.

I am just reflecting a little on my post above. It does feel, for the first time in a good while, like I have such a good grasp on where I am and where I am heading. With investment in the right areas of my beef business I am confident i will reap the rewards in the future.

I think you’ll do well. Seems it’s the middle that are going to get squeezed.

This is where I’m coming from, are you confident like in the 1980’s to go full on bust the overdraft investment or is it reasonable structured targeted investment to tweak the current system?

I need a new barn (old one's roof is a little like me on top.... thin!) and the cows need a new pole barn for running under next winter. BUT... one look at the prospects for sucklers/beef, and I wonder if the money is better in premium bonds!

Any shed will have to be a multi purpose thing, but again, to what end. I can use a polytex sheet and cover my round bales for several years @ 25p/bale/annum.

Waiting to see what ELMs brings, and if I can revert a sizeable chunk of the farm to some sort of cover/cover/combineable rotation with a bit of grass/sheep keep, that will not need much shed space...
