These are known as a combination, a side by side with a plus one is a drilling. A German gentleman i knew had one in 9mm for boar at home, big game in Africa, a bit heavy for roe here though. I believe a double 12 with a plus 2 aren't uncommon in Europe.I shot wild bore in Romania years ago and used a side by side gun there that was 1 barrel 12g (slug) and the other was 30/08 cal rifle
I used to love home loading. My dad has got terrible lately! He keeps buying “new” guns! The latest one is an 1860 hammer gun. Proper BP job. Beautiful gun, and brilliant too watch the clouds of smoke last week when we were all on peg. He’s well into his home loading as well. Some mixes work, some….. well it would be easier too just throw the lead at the birds!!
Nothing wrong with a twenty, used nothing else now for three seasons, black gold 28gm 6’s16 bore is technically the best ballistically i’m told
i would get one if the cartridges were not so horribly expensive
20 is for boys, women and old men !
Graham Greener of the gun family is still alive and well, I was shooting with him only last Saturdayout of the village here that was owned by Mr Greener, last of the gun family. He died sometime late seventies / early eighties it's changed hands several times but it's still known as "Greeeners corner". He taught my dad to shoot by trying to shoot bats at dusk in his garden. He told him "if you can hit a Bat you're fit to go from home"
He was last of the original firm before it packed up and got bought out by WebleyGraham Greener of the gun family is still alive and well, I was shooting with him only last Saturday
Did you do it off turrets or standing on the ground.
A friend of mine did it years ago when he used to write for the shooting times. Said it was fantastic
