Ah, right ..... give us more please! Perhaps going back to the bubonic plague would have been more appropriate! Even Boris could have come out looking like half competent!!
So you don’t think we should look back at all! That’s good because today figures will be less than yesterday so Boris is doing okay

It’s certainly good news that uk numbers are dropping (y)
from a uk perspective ...
I do find myself worrying about Brazil, India, Mexico, chilli, Peru...
That’s the problem, unless a vaccine comes along the only option is herd immunity and lots of deaths or staying locked away till it’s over,we in the west have had that option the country’s you mentioned above sadly don’t have any option but to let it spread

I’m finding myself unsure whether all these lockdowns are solely responsible for declining numbers - or maybe summertime?...
And it comes back just the same in November? Like flu. :banghead:

I personally don’t think the lockdown has had much bearing on the matter and unless there’s a vaccine or herd immunity by November then some of places being used as a beacon to how it should of been handled could be in a whole lot of trouble

If we didn't have lockdown when almost every other country did it and the deaths were 10 times the current figure I think a few people might have complained a bit.

I would venture to suggest that the deaths could have been one tenth of what they are going to end up as had our government more closely followed WHO advice - "A few people...." have every reason to be complaining....

What advice do you mean? lockdown sooner? masks? genuine question.

Some countries locked down before very soon after acknowledging CV-19 in them and before any deaths on the other hand

I get all that and agree with it but presumably you are saying that the WHO advice was to lock down sooner than we did?
My post was replying to someone who was questioning whether the lockdown had helped much but I was saying we had to lockdown as there would be a hell of a backlash if we didn't and it went badly.

I doubt there will every be herd immunity. A person can't achieve immunity from getting pheunomia. Covid 19 is very like it

Should have listened to WHO advice and brought in lockdown and incoming self isolation long before there were 335 daily deaths and the virus had already spread to all corners of the UK (part of the herd immunity project) - Should have had an effective Deputy PM for any emergency situation. - Should have put health before wealth (which elsewhere had the effect of being best for both).

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but actively going against WHO advice and seeking out CV-19 patients to shake hands with will not go down as his finest hour.
But for the fact he got it himself alot more would have died
