Is home made diesel going out of fashion??

In this months car mechanics there is a set up for sale which produces fuel from used rape seed oil he had the contract for all used oil from local hospital
But gives no reason why it's for sale

Not good in modern common rail engines.
In fact it was a disaster for diesels in general as. Most of the issues in towns are due to older cars running on any old s**t that the owners put in the tank. Used oil , veg oil , waste engine , gearbox, hydraulic , you name it if the car goes forward, it goes in. But out of the exhaust comes all the unburnt particles which were too big too burn in the nanosecond that the pressure and temperature is correct .

i used to do it.
started off on veg oil, then moved to making biodiesel.
i made my own equipment which at one time, would have been worth quite a bit.
I stopped making it years ago now, reckon my rig is only worth scrap now unfortunately :(

Yes the old chip fat FOC how could one go wrong? Was proudly taken and shown a real tidy setup in a container. Nothing to it, you just filter this, heat that, that settles in that, you then pump this into that drum - that stuff there is for dumping, that over there we pour on the silage etc etc. Poor man thought he had discovered alchemy.

He made the mistake of asking my dad what he thought about it.

"Makes the clear look chape":LOL:

Emmissions, ad blue ,engine management, ecu, Government policies etc etc F it all up.
Older vehicles ,rotary pumps etc loved it and ran well on B100 .
Yes issues ,yes not that simple but what petrochemical process or industry is???
RME best fuel you can get.
Rape seed oil ,veg oil ,sustainable, GREEN, no danger if fuel spills, cook your chips in it and then run your vehicles on it -fantastic?

It could be made to work but the concessions on VAT and fuel duty were withdrawn which killed the job on any small commercial scale / had someone here who was reclaiming and converting around 500 litres every day using IBCs and an old bulk milk tank with a steam cleaner providing heat for the reaction then triple polishing through progressively finer filter resin, made a very clear, bright result and worked well through non common rail engines but as I said it worked financially when the tax concessions were still in place.

This doesn't sound good. I had planned to set up a little system ready for when they ban diesel so I can still play in my tractors.😳
