Is Ian Potter going to kill off local and County shows

What are they crossed with? Surely a hol would throw a totally different colour?
If you're asking me @Bipper , they have Holstein genetics, but not first crosses. However , when some breeders queried the ancestry of a recent " next best thing" that was/is throwing unusually marked calves, ie white faces with brown patches round the eyes, it turns out that there was a Milking Simmental in there, some generations back!!!!

The owner of the cow may have been banned but that didn't stop her fitting crew, and the ones who actually carried out the alleged tampering, from working and showing at the show! In fact one of the fitting crew had her own cows at the show! The owner of the animal could easily have been innocent as many do not attend the show except for when the judging takes place, instead leaving them with their fitting crew.
Imo if the GYS want to stamp this out then they should have banned everyone involved with that cow whilst it was at the show, not just the person whos name was on the entry form!

Life is a little different I'm afraid, and someone has to be responsible. Bagging up cows to show is nothing new as everyone knows, what is new, is the limits people are willing to go to, which are extreme. Stop it !!

One of the best show cow's about atm is a 1st cross swiss. I think the Ayrshire herd book opened up to 1 cross of red holstein in the late 80's or early 90s. Remember seeing some black and tri colour ayrshire cattle in sales. Mainly by Victor and Jubilant. Is the Dairy shorthorn doing something similar now?
Personally, I don't have a problem with the use of teat sealant at shows.

No need to us them at the Balmoral, the rules clearly state cows in milk should be milked OUT by 8.0pm the evening before the judging.

Yes that Swiss is a good cow, but she isn't of a true Brown Swiss 'type' so for me shouldn't be winning Brown Swiss classes.
Sandyford Clover is half Holstein. The Ayrshire cattle society changed the rules for showing this year, all Ayrshires must be 51% or more, so Clover can't be shown as an Ayrshire anymore.
Dairy Shorthorns have to be 25% I think to be shown, could be wrong though. But from this year you can only register a calf as Shorthorn if it's by a Shorthorn bull.

You're never going to stop it I'm afraid, unless show societies really stamp hard on it.
When the big shows are your shop window to sell progeny to the rest of the world you'll do all you can to make your cows look their best. The daughter and grand daughter of the cow at the GYS were the top prices at the dispersal last month, and were sold outside of the UK.
I'm not saying it's right to teat seal (I personally wouldn't do it) but for some it's worth the risk.

I completely agree with Whitepeak, unless it is banned, and enforced by a lifetime ban for the offenders, it will continue. Its the same as performance enhancing drugs in sport, if the will to stop was there (with a lifetime ban) then maybe some would think twice.

So I suppose, in both cases, nothing is likely to happen.
