Is it hard to do the brakes myself?

Have a Ford 7000 and the mechanic said a few years ago that the breaks were adjusted to the last. and since then the peddle is now almost to the floor again.

As its almost impossible to get the mechanic especially now with this virus I was thinking of tackling it myself. I was thinking if i had questions along the way i could ask here.

Obviously it is drain the oil first, take off tyre and take off half axle but i would be in new territory after that. How hard it is to put in new discs after that (i have new discs already btw)?

Any help on the steps I would need to take would be helpful or a link with pictures of where someone else has done it.

I could send it out to be done but i would also like to give it ago myself and hopefully this tractor should be a nice simple one to try it on.

First have you tried to adjust them, make certain your handbrake off if it's a transmission type the same if it's connected to your main brakes but make certain it's slack, jack up rear wheel and adjust the nut's on the rod which comes out of the turret housing [not bell housing] [two nuts locked together i think 11/16th a/f spanner] tighten until you can't turn the wheel by hand then slacken off by about 10 flats of the nut and see what pedal is like and if you can still turn the wheel freely, do the same on the other side if all ok then lock pedals together and drive tractor use brakes and see if they pull up straight if not slacked off by one flat the side that is locking first then tighten the other side by one flat if ok lock up nuts and check and adjust handbrake if necessary, if no good the do as shown above, but not on blocks of wood as your turret's are heavier if you have a forklift use that, just make certain to drain oil from rear end and support the cab properly,..

Make sure to get some flange seal for the trumpets when you put it back together. Get it good and clean so loads of carb clean etc to get a good stick.

Done 2 of our 956 and it's not a bad job but heavy so might need a mate.
