Is it just our hunt?

That's very interesting.
I had exactly the same thoughts when four gentlemen with happy terriers followed a hunt across my fields without permission.
What are they doing ?
Poor picture, but zoom in and they're just seen.View attachment 847873

They’ll be there to dig out any foxes which the hounds mark to ground. The use of a terrier below ground is perfectly legal under the Hunting Act.

That's strange....illegal to chase a fox above ground but ok to chase it once below ground?
Are you limited in how many terriers you use?
Presumably if the fox bolts you aren't allowed to chase it anymore!

Could be wrong but I’m sure hunting act says the use of terriers to “flush” a Fox is perfectly legal, it’s then too be shot when it pops it’s head above ground.... also pretty sure hunting with 1-2 dogs is allowed just not with a pack?

People can roam on land with caravans, walking on it, hunting on it, all without permission? How do you even own land if you can't tell others to fcck right of it?
Don't wanna be a dick or something but this really puzzles me.

I think only one dog allowed below ground.

Very sad reading these posts. I followed a lot of hunts (on foot or bicycle) when a teenager down south but only a few rare gun packs up here. It was a great way to see the countryside and meet like minded people. But we always repaired fences and walls. Any trouble with foxes would bring the hunt terrier man out pronto with one telephone call.

Funny how one incident with a snooty rider who didn't bother to thank me for opening a gate has stuck in my mind for over 50 years. Disrespect is what kills these old traditions and is destroying the countryside community. It will be rather sad when there are no more hunts, no pubs, no marts, no local schools, and no churches. But I suppose there is always social media!

Tim where have you been? Mouse hunting illegal, rat hunting legal, rabbit hunting legal, hare hunting illegal, fox hunting illegal unless you use two dogs or less and throw a pointy bird at it when it pops out and own at least one non-pointy bird which you are protecting when its perfectly legal. Simples.

Terrierwork using one dog below ground is exempt hunting, as long as the fox is shot, but only for the protection of game birds and wild birds (i.e. not lambs)

For a law that took 700 hours of parliamentary time, it is spectacularly poorly worded, with exemptions that cover a multitude of activities that are often more or less indistinguishable from the illegal activities.

Sounds about as simple as the choice in the upcoming election ?
