Who actually knows about them though, if it wasn’t for on here I wouldn’t be any the wiser. I spoke to 4 people at the grain store this week and none had any clue about any of the changes. I haven’t seen any emails from the nfu advising their members about it and I don’t read any of the farming magazines.
The nfu have done a flow chart and there was a webinar today with the EA talking to Stuart someone.

I couldn't understand the flow chart and just what I wanted to do today with harvest and haymaking going on was listen to a webinar at 5pm

There are a handful of farms in herefordshire that have been given a total spreading ban by EA, no negotiation due to 3+ indices and some high risk ground, now have to export all muck (poultry)🙁.

At the end of the day, it must be safe to spread fym when the drains are not running, i always thought autumn was the best time of year for applying sh#t and worked in the top few inches, wer,nt we supposed to be working towards better soil health etc etc?
Exactly, the EA seem a little clueless when it comes to these new regulations. Autumn is the best time to apply muck.Perhaps a cut off date of ,say October 15th would have been appropriate and practical for all concerned.

They latch on to some single issue and bang on about it relentlessly. They have no idea what commercial or logistical pragmatism is. They are slowing grinding the country to a halt on all fronts.
FYM isn’t very high in N. The humus is created helps bind nutrients to the soil. The amount I have spread from my 20 cow suckler herd in the autumn and ploughed in before a winter crop would cause statistically insignificant release of N to water.
How much N does a 5 year legume rich government sponsored ley release once it gets going that might be used by nothing in the autumn following plough down? A clover rich sward can produce 250 Kg N per ha.
We already have a closed season for application of high N manures. Surely that’s sufficient. It has been for 40 years. Why the change now? Oh I forgot, woke libtards in charge now. Environmental Taliban.

Lies,damn lies and statistics.

Its all muck to be honest.

Most farmers have a good idea what needs doing and when.

All the EA need to do is actually monitor bad practice and word soon gets around the farming community, but no they sit in their ivory towers firing a big fat RPG of legislation into every business.

They need to get out of their cushy offices and get their feet dirty, not issue worthless decrees.

Actually there’s been loads of information from the NFU, they’ve been lobbying against the rules for months.

I've read this thread, and looked at proposals. So I'm still confused.
When does 'autumn' start? (It can be minus something stupid in the north, and our Cornish grass be still a'growing.)
Simple question: All grass coastal farm, not NVZ, with stock out all year (store sheep follow cattle, as / when they're housed) : Can fym from a weeping wall system still be spread as long as ground conditions and run off allow, and stock needs fresh growth of grass?

It’s a common theme. Get rid of neonic seed dressings so we can’t grow OSR. Can’t grow OSR so we cantvtgen justify autumn manure under the new rules.
Why don’t they just state they want to export food production?
And recruiting people to enforce the rules. What is this country becoming? An Eco fascist state if you ask me.

I've called all my cows Carrie so when I get the knock, i can say "Carrie did it"

Farming is very rapidly becoming joyless

Genuinely, here is Carrie.

As well as being a cracking heifer, she produces valuable poo.
Unlike her namesake at the other No 10

Ah no. My Carrie produce fragrant slurry ideal for growing nutritious grass which she then eats and ultimately excretes which goes to grow nutritious grass ....

The other Carrie sends unwanted elephants to Kenya.

Which is the more useful?
I live in hope that Carrie sends Bozo to Kenya as well, he is equally unwanted, and produces similiar levels of crap, albeit mostly verbal!
