When is a sensible optimum date if there is a historic blackgrass problem? We have a very small part field that is going into oats this spring and it's a bad one for BG.
The reason we grow spring crops on heavy land is to get on top of weed pressure. If you put it in at the end of February it won't have the desired effect. We aim for the end of march/first half of April weather dependant. Remember there's no chemistry for blackgrass in oats now.
