Is my system right?

Why don't you buy a new 150hp tractor and hire one of the size you want for a few weeks a year for drilling etc. For the hours you're going to put on it a year it would surely make financial sense to know your costs and not have the worry of break downs etc
Read above it’s not cost effective.

Yes I’ve seen that but I’m very unsure about it as it would be very heavy on a trailed sprayer and Cambridge rolls. And at that price it would have to be my sole tractor. Think I’ve decided to keep what I’ve got and buy a big old tillage tractor for no more than £50,000, something like a 8520/8530 Deere or Magnum 310/335.

Obviously my tractor is now out of warranty and I’m friends with a CNH fitter. He’s advised me the FPT 6.7l engine in mine wouldn’t be worth tampering with and may cause me more trouble. Another friend also told me he had looked into it with his tractor which is the same as mine and was quoted another 20hp ish. I think we are about 60hp short power wise but also traction is an issue so a bigger heavier tractor is what we need.
They do get 315hp out of the same 6.7l engine in the Optum but I suppose its the transmission etc which may not like it on the 230.
20hp more out of the 230 puma and 500kg of wheel weights on each back wheel?

What?? You're having your leg lifted!!!
£102,500 for NH T7.245PC, front links, sidewinder, elec spools and mid mount. Autosteer to Rangepoint incl although still waiting for my elec grease gun freebie
t7 245 is only 191 hp at the shaft according to tractor data. New Holland has a really strange way of modelling tractors on gross engine hp at the crank not the shaft like everyone else.

buy that then if you just want a tillage tractor.

What about hiring a larger tractor for a few weeks a year when you are drilling? Be more cost affective than having a machine sat idle 95% of the time then own a cheaper smaller tractor.

What size is the drill? If 4m, maybe chop it in for a 3m. Given that you’re currently struggling with it - you should be able to go more quickly with minimal reduction in output?
Possibly Release a bit of cash to throw in with current tractor against something with, say, 275hp that will comfortably handle the sprayer.
Take this option and you can go for power over weight, protecting your soil…?
If your current drill is 3m - ignore the above!
