Whats black and white and eats like a horse in a field?
A zebra pulling a plough and then drill or a zebra pulling a mole plough and then a zerotill drill?

I've asked for some examples in the last 50, or 100 years if its easier. Surely there should be dozens to choose from if you are correct. Yet all we have so far are some examples of Stone Age hunter/gatherers hunting something to extinction and a breed of Zebra some 150 years ago. Oh well, I really thought that the human-guilt protagonists would have done better than this.
Maybe you should read all the posts, there have been numerous examples of species now extinct, I posted five from only 2020. If you can take pictures of these so called extinct species alive and well in your area of utopia I’m sure a lot of people would love to see them.

i don’t need any research project or vested interest report to tell me what a massive improvement not ploughing for 25 years (no till for 14 or them) has made to my soils, farm ecosystem/ local wildlife and finances

just my eyes !

You don't have to believe anything you don't want to. Beliefs don't change facts but they do change behaviour.

Yes, you do not have to believe anything you don’t want to.
The internet is full of alternative beliefs and it is easy to refuse to believe any of them when that belief is contrary to what you are used to doing.
That doesn’t mean that the alternatives are wrong.
The only way to know for sure whether or not they may be right, is to actually try them.

I reckon that book is a hatchet job and will be a mish mash of "data".

Glyphosate may have certain risks but it doesn't appear to have massive risks
The book itself is probably music to the ears of Luddites, conspiracy theorists and the sort of people that are rich enough to only eat organic food. They don’t care that without modern farming techniques, half the world would starve.

So to sum up this thread. Yes ploughing is bad for the environment it’s caused extinction of everything from the Wolly mammoth to the lesser spotted three striped dung bettle.
no zero till is not a religion but a lot of those that do it are of the same stock as those religious/vegan/environmentalists types that get seriously touchy of you say anything for your side. Why can’t people say what’s good for their system and leave it at that and not need to slate what others do.

This. If I farmed a larger acreage, No till drills were much cheaper, and I didn't rent out ground for spuds.........I'd be keen to give direct drilling a go. I quite fancy the idea of wandering out on the first dry day in spring and just sowing a crop, without all the faff of plouging.
But why is everything so black and white ?
Direct drill good....plough bed. Square bales good......round bad. Old tractors bad.........new tractors good.......Bendy forklifts bad......ridged good... Trailed sprayers bad........SP good.....

There's a hell of a lot on here who live to just criticise others methods of farming.🤷‍♂️

You dreamt it.

But we should all be regulated into doing it as it's a good idea and ploughmen should be castrated
too much cheese before bed time:rolleyes:

and was your father a ploughman aamoi? (y)
if not how did you get that well above average privileged position of yours to speak from ? genuine question honest answer please.

either way pity you have too stoop so low, and that not what is expected of an ambassador, How would the Finnish veiw that comment?

Ive always been interested in Scandinavian farming what with there challenging short seasons and small arable land area.

bottom line is if you cant say anything sensible , interesting or useful@SilliamWhale , best not to say anything at all boy.(y)
