Is TFF is getting too popular?

God forbid that TFF should ever get like the other places that dare not speak their names, where nobody goes any more but I think that this place is getting too busy. For example, @Sid started a thread at 05.41 yesterday morning and now it has 16 pages! There are plenty of other examples. I can't keep up.

It's not just TFF, it's all social media.

There's been a lockdown and people don't have a life at the moment, combine that with people becoming less socially outgoing and more keyboard warrior like and you get more people doing his kind of thing.

I'm not sure where some of the more prolific posters get the time to post (and possibly read) so much, but every minute spent on the social media is a minute not spent on real life.

Not great, but it's how the human race is going, and the levels of mental health issues and anxiety problems is not bring helped by arguing with the whole world and expecting strangers to give them a pat on the back.

It needs to be busy to get answers to questions such as " Why is my forklift not working " etc, but my word, there's an awful lot of anti farmer trolling on here which I've not encountered on the other 3 farming forums.
It's a fine line between being busy, and being an arsehole factory.......

You daren't mention the weather anymore cos someone turns up with a harder / wetter drought....
Politics section is a no go area, as it's still dominated by remainers .
Health and safety threads.....don't bother....shame really, could be quite useful.
Not a single topic goes by without someone bringing up the word " subsidy ".
Then there's no-till / regen agriculture which refuses to stay in it's own section.....
Folks don't like being reminded of the 1970's.😂😂

Still, mustn't grumble... 😂

I blame wifi and the mobile phone network.
Shouldn't be allowed.

Agree. Not having a smart phone means I only come on here in tea breaks. (I do drink a lot of tea mind).

but every minute spent on the social media is a minute not spent on real life.

Just to give an alternative angle to that. For those who campaign, part of their real life used to be banging out letters on typewriters, buying stamps, and seeking meetings with those in positions of power. Now, that campaigning consists, in part, on use of the internet.

I think it's great!!! Had Farmers Gaudian phone the other day asking if I'd like to take out a sub for the magazine, politely said no, he enquired as to why, I just mentioned The Farming Forum, seemed he heard that line a plenty before.
Why bother paying for a mag that is sponsored in the main by chem/mech or fert and basically is just a re-hash of topics on here.
You get to know who to ignore and who to listen to. Trolls can be trolled if you've the inclination/time.

We had the biggest draught ever back in the 1970's .....the good old days when we were safely in the womb of the EEC and wallowing in subsidies[emoji3]

Yes people used to rumble on with letters etc like you say, but whilst doing so they had time to think about their point and to be somewhat composed.
Nowadays every chav and their aunty has an earth shattering opinion that everyone must hear regardless of how relevant or intelligent it is, and regularly it's those who contribute least to society who have the time to shout the most.
