Small though it is it probably has more room in it than a Defender and according to those who have used them they will get to pretty well anywhere a Defender will go.

Obviously they won’t tow what a Defender will but they seem to be a very popular go anywhere workhorse at a lot less money than bigger four wheel drive vehicles.

Is petrol a big problem now ? cheaper to buy better performance, cheaper motor cheaper insurance ..... how many more miles a year to justify diesel ?
Getting more difficult to buy a diesel now - I went to the new CRV launch and it's now a 1.5 twin turbo petrol instead of the old 2.2 diesel
Oilburners are dead in the M1 sector

So how hard would it be to register a new one as an ag vehicle and claim the vat back?

Otherwise it will need an mot every 3 years which for something that only goes down the odd lane would be a pain plus the road tax!

Our Rtv is 3 years old and cost about 2k in repairs in the last year but cost to change is crazy so something like this might be worth a punt but not if you can't get the vat back etc?

its starting to look a bit like a defender

lack of diesel is not a problem - diesel is dead and will soon be taxed out of existence, petrol cheaper and more economical these days

cheap but could do with ability to tow

I have to say it looks like a lot of fun!

"Can it pummel the landscape into submission?" he asks. No, but it will pummel the occupants into submission even if its twice as 'comfortable' as the previous model.

Diesel engines are certainly not dead or dying as claimed by some. In fact both petrol and diesel fuel light passenger vehicles are due to be killed off on the same date. Diesel will however carry on for heavier haulage and commercial vehicles, such as pickups that are used by farmers, make no mistake about it. The vehicles built in the 2030's with internal combustion engines will still be chugging along in the 2040's and even into the 2050's worldwide. Maybe not in towns though.
In the medium term, diesel sales will drop back from about 50% or the total sales to nearer 25%, which is where they sensibly should have settled anyhow.
