Apparently its making a come back which is good but does the actual word 'mutton' put off peope buying it? it isnt exactly desirable is it? Too many bad experiences of olden days maybe spoiled some peoples opinions on it.

could we market it better?

I think it depends on the age of the person. I get the odd request for mutton and it’s almost always 60 years old plus.

Can't be as off putting as the word "lamb" is. That has to be the ultimate food switch off for many people.

Went out for a curry with five townie friends some time back. Ordered the banquet for 6 and one of the dishes that came was a lamb dish. None of the women at the table would touch it. It just reminds them that they're eating the cute little things they see bouncing round the fields in April.

Last time I ordered lamb in a restaurant , there was a slight turning up of the nose from my fellow diners, again of the female sex. Nobody actually said anything, but you could tell it got a reaction, however polite.

We have problems going forward, because this attitude ain't gonna go away. Probably the reverse.

My sister wont even try it because of the name.

My wife didn't eat lamb when we meat, exactly the same reason. Made her think of baby lambs.
