I don't know if there is some trick to round baling barley but no matter the speed I get to a bit like that and it gives the baler the farts. The pickup will stall then run, stall then run, stall then run then just stall with the clutch making it sound like it is farting. I had no trouble with the hay other than the clutch going in the tractor but nothing with the actual baler but I have had nothing but problems with its pickup in the barley. A run of weld round it solves that!
It does work, but carry a spare pick up drive chain, because it will eat it in no time!

I adjusted the crop guards as suggested in the manual I tightened the clutch up two flats until I could just turn the washers and tried again at 8:30pm had no problems would have continued later than 10 but having busted one wheel already after hitting one hole or rut I couldn't see (need better lights on the front) would have continued today but decided to rain so unsure if it my adjustments made any difference or if it was the rising damp.

Either way with brown pastures I am not complaining about the rain

That dog clutch on the pickup was the bain of my life on short dry straw. They seem to get shagged quick. Used to have to open the back door and push it out through the pickup. Still got the scar on my hand from the bale sensor paddle inside to remind me!!!

I've cut myself twice on the bale width sensor. Never replaced a dog clutch though.
