Is this bale stack safe or not?!

I think we need to get back to the stack

At the end of the day, the HSE have a valid point whether people like it or not.
Farming is a dangerous industry as everyone knows, so after their advice is given, if one chooses to ignore it and something went wrong and hurt someone - then that is the risk you take, and your insurance will not pay out if that document is made aware to them.

Simples - do you like risks or not, only you can decide that.

Would it be considered safe for the children grandkids to have a picknick sat at the bottom?
If you are not 100% confident of that then you know the bales are not safe.

It was said at the start it was put in on the pee deliberately, as they thought that was best.

Personally I would prefer straight up and interlocking in this instance.
That goes for cougars too :p
I prefer to have them tight preferably against the wall , but if the ground moves it will still look deshevelled, eh....?

Thanks all, interesting to hear everyone’s views.

Most of the straw in the shed is OSR, most of the hay was flogged but some was kept back.

The picture doesn’t show a lot of building materials, Ballest, sand, blocks etc in front of the stack, it’s hard to get close enough to it. No one goes in the shed, much better places for picnics ?.

Yes we have a 7 m jcb, too big to throw up by hand....

Other fuel in there is not fossil based but for biomass, still a risk of fire but it’s not a derv tank etc.

The intention when stacking it was to make it safe long term, granted the first few courses are a bit further out than perhaps they could, but I still feel that those sized bales are better of stacked with a ‘bit’ of lean rather than straight up.
