I had it a few years ago after getting bit by a sheep. Went to doctors and they said yep it's orf and that was it, did prescribe anything for it. Was fine till it exploded and was very itchy for a week or so then cleared up itself.

I had of many years ago,it was like a little volcano shaped water blister.Itchen a bit and cleared but, iirc, over 3/4 weeks. My GP turned up one day with a fancy camera to take a picture and send it to Birmingham Uni medical department so that students could see what it looked like.He said it wasn't very common in humans and wanted students to familiarise themselves.

I'm sure there will be a homeopathic treatment, but that so-called branch of medicine seems to have gone very quiet.

Perhaps they have all died off for lack of proper medical care.

I’ve had it , at the side of the finger nail, my finger swelled and split down the side then it tracked up my arm in to the lymph glands of the arm pit. So I went to hospital, proper mess.
It still appears a few times a year on my lips although no where near as bad. I used to get a little hitler tach scab. Herpies virus I think it is

He's been seen today. Its orf and its spread. He's been given antibiotics but was told it might have been caught too late and if it gets worse over the weekend he's to go to hospital for steroids.

Worse than that my 4 year old has suspected orf.

Ouch! Ouch! Oooft! Yipe!

Urticaria, poor thing :inpain: Guessing the antibiotics are in case of secondary infection?

Unfortunate for the little one, too. Calamine lotion if the 4yo has a full reaction. Hope it's a single pustule and nothing more.

Hope all pull through OK.

A friend of mine had this. She was blue lighted to A and E as the reaction was so severe, a few days after someone noting at a farmer 'do' that she had what looked like orf on her finger.

Part of an email from her a few days later...

"I am beginning to feel a bit better now as the antibiotics are starting to take hold thank goodness, what a scare, the doctors had never seen anything quiet like it ,my hands were so swollen and uncontrollably itchy drove me mad, and the rash so raised and angry looking with awful blood blisters, but so much better now though. Had one antihistamine drip and two antibiotic drips at hospital and now taking oral antibiotics, hopefully they will do the trick!

The hand surgeon incised the orf, cleaned it thoroughly, took a swab and dressed it.

Had nurse and doctors appt this morning, all going in the right direction, still got raised temperature and slightly high blood pressure, so have to take it easy, but onwards and up I think."

If anyone has what they think is orf and begins to get a rash then get it seen to ASAP and make sure you tell them that you think it might be orf.

Oh that's frightening! Poor poor friend. My Andy's quite subdued tonight and he can cope with poor health and pain (unlike me). If iv learnt anything tonight it's that il not 'wait and see' - if I think it's getting worse il insist on taking him to the hospital.

It’s not good I had it last year was in hospital as secondary infection tracked up my arm, the only plus is it doesn’t pass from human to human
Oh dear, sounds grim [emoji852]️. My son may have orf too but he pets and feeds the pet lambs so he probably picked it up himself.
