Er,what tyre? Bootlace?
Its on a JCB 535-125 loadall.bootlace repair puncher with tubeless tyre repair kit.tire says tubless but sometimes if tires had a deep gash a innertube gets put in.and you can tell by the velve if its still tubeless or had innertube fitted

bootlace when they work and properly fitted are great.
Not being too clever we have ruined a tyre or 2 by not actually sealing the inner skin,
this lets air get into the tyre itself and can cause a massive rubber blister

"Bootlace" repairs go in from the outside, without taking the tyre off the rim, and should be treated as a temporary repair.
"Mushroom" patches are pulled through from the inside, so you at least have to lift one bead of the tyre over the rim to fit them. But once in, they're a proper repair.

It does seem wrong sticking a drill bit or reamer through a little hole to make it bigger, but it cleans everything up, gives you a bit of room to get the glue in, and makes it the right size for the repair.
Most mushrooms have a steel rod you use to poke through the hole, and pull on to get the patch on tight. If your wrist is strong enough the steel should pop out!
