Anyone else been caught by these sharks ?
I did !
Have dealt with for 5 years ( 5 years trading as a farmer also)
No warning spoke to them on the day they folded, never mentioned it when I asked where the money was they said it was on its way,it’s just wrong!
I’m embarrassed to say,I didn’t see it coming

Last Accounts didn’t show anything short must have been quick emptying the coffers . I always worrying when I’ve 8-10 load of rape owing even though I spread it between 3 or 4 . One year 10 load of rape came to £118k
almost unbelievable, long standing company, they became more involved in the production side of brewing rather than supplying malting cereals I think . The beer I had under their label last year was like nats pixx mixed with vinegar so no surprise if thats the reason, we used to do a bit with them years ago only stopped when the rep retired. initials R.G. pleasant fellow as I recall

We also use to deal with Poads, stopped about 7 years ago. Had a chat to our ag bank manager and gave him a list of people we were selling grain to, Poads was the only one he told us to be wary of.
If the bank manager was telling everyone the same thing, then no wonder they folded! If it was your business and you knew a bank manager was telling people not to trade with you, probably justified in suing him.

Trade talk is there main man for over 3 decades left not long since taking a lot of the malt business with him. 3 month plus to pay should off sent the alarm bell ringing .

We dealt with them, seemed to get slower and slower at paying, so used them less and less over the last couple of years, thankfully nothing sold to them recently.

I don’t know how much money they have put into brewing, I think it’s brewed at another local smallish brewer.

Blimey that is a surprise, as they have been going for ages - 6 generations and incorporated after WW1

Used to sell BOCM Silcock feeds as a merchant for them on the 1980's and 90's

I thought the beer making would be a good add-on

Sad to hear this
