Isolator on the positive

Bought a new (well 40 year old) scraper tractor recently. There is an isolator switch on it but its on the positive lead. Will this still be ok and effective. Always thought they were to be on the negative.

If the tractor is that age, is it a positive earth?

All our lime spreading trucks have isolators on the positive, anything that breaks the circuit is effective.

Yes it will be fine, and if it is positive earth it would have to be on that side.
