Italy's in shut down

Early on, I was surprised by the number of people who said to me ….. 'I can't be bothered with all this; if I get it, I get it and that's it!' I wonder if they never learned that prevention is oft far better than cure; perhaps they should stop looking both ways before crossing the road.

I was dismayed by news of the young man who, upon learning that his exam results would be assessed based on his mocks, walked out of the house and has been found dead in the woods; suicide perhaps? Call me a hippy if you like but there has never been a greater need for love (not lust) than there is today.

I am, of course, also dismayed by all the other deaths.

Intersting, does that mean that many more die with flu but are never recorded as Flu deaths , i have never heard it said that someone died of Flu
Figures of 18000 'normal' flu deaths in a bad year are being used as comparisons. So obviously they people are recorded as having died from flu.

As a layman, with no expertise, it seems pretty obvious that people are dying from Covid induced pneumonia, as opposed to pneumonia brought on by flu or other things, such as from shock after breaking legs, etc. (I knew two old men who suffered that fate).
So. Yes GUTH. Covid is killing people, just as breaking legs is.

All we can do is stay safe until they either have a vaccine or a cure . For anyone with a large extended family the risks are to high atm

Will be no cure for it.

Vaccine is at least 12/18 months away.

So quite clear they will have to lift this lockdown before long or else there will be no food/heating/ no end of deaths from untreated illness like cancer etc.

Its quite intresting some of the at risk on this thread that should be shut away at home don't seem to be complying 100% with what they have been told to do yet support the lockdown on the entire country.

And as for the poster who said that deaths from say road accidents will be down in a lockdown, well yes they maybe but what are you suggesting? lock everyone up in their homes 24/7 for the rest of their lives??

And still the passenger planes are flying into the UK....

The people who die to the normal flue are generally in their final year of life and the flu takes them out. This Covid virus is taking out all age groups , the older you are the better a chance it has of taking you out , or if your immune system is down at all from any other treatment you might of had then it can take you out easier , this virus is also destroying your lungs and a lot of people who are recovered now have very poor lung capacity , I’ve heard of fit young people now needing lung transplants, We all want to live as long as possible and the best chance of doing that is to avoid this virus. That other clown @ gone up the hill won’t answer my question that I asked him three times , is he prepared to die for the good of the economy .

Passenger aircraft are still flying but at a scarcely believable rate. People are being repatriated to their various countries where possible. My cousin, however is stuck in Canada and I do not think is able to fly home.

It's not like people are arriving in Heathrow at full tilt and making an intensive care booking. Lot of healthcare workers were on holiday when this hit.
