Has anyone compared the average death rate from anything apart from covid 19 since the beginning of the year?

I would hazard a guess that a percentage of those that have sadly lost their life from Covid 19 . 1, 5, 10,25 % would have passed away anyway.
Week ending 20 march uk deaths were 72 up on the 5 year average
108 of those were CV infected

If that is true then the man is not doing himself or anyone else a favour as he would appear to be misleading the public as to his level of expertise.
I think the confusion is the are two Dr John Campbell's, from what I have heard this one is just repeating stuff that is easily found on the interent. I am not saying the content of the video is wrong but if you can read and have a brain you can work it out for yourself.

The other Dr John Campbell,
Get a PHD, and you become a doctor of something.

Dr. John Campbell is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing studies at the University of Cumbria and worked in A & E for 30 years. So probably has way more knowledge than the FY1 & 2 's manning A&E.

His own words on his YouTube channel:

Hello Everyone, My name is John Campbell and I am a retired Nurse Teacher and A and E nurse based in England. I also do some teaching in Asia and Africa when time permits. These videos are to help students to learn the background to all forms of health care. My PhD focured on the development of open learning resources for nurses nationally and internationally.
..........................................................................

Decide for yourself whether he is qualified to claim that you cannot be re-infected. I have not watched the video in which he allegedly claims this is so. I accepted the post stating that he did so. No reason to doubt the poster.

I don't know this guy and have not watched his stuff but I have read articles written co-authored by Professor Woo Joo Kim and I was reading some of them as part of the research I did during my college course. I can't even begin to count the number of articles his name appears in.

Joo Kim knows his stuff

Pity PHE aren’t his calibre

He doesn’t tend to use much of his own opinion, he references who, lancet etc papers and gives the links so you can read it yourself, main thing is no sensationalism.

Yes, I have followed him for some time and he has been pretty much on the money, seems to say it as it is in an easy to understand manner. I wish my lecturers/teachers were like him!
I think he keeps a lot of his own opinions to himself, I did wonder if the Gov would have 'got to him' and had a few words as he was quite scathing of the lack of action being displayed our gov, a lot of people follow/watch his videos.

I think claiming that people cannot be re-infected is sensationalism. So far as I know nobody else is making that claim. As posted I have not watched the video in full because I trust you when you said he made the claim.

Why did you not know that bacteria can’t live in peat.

Do you really believe that? About 40 years ago now I first used peat as the carrier for nitrogen fixing bacteria and made up a slurry with clover seed.

See these, the first one going back a long way further:

If the truth be known as with a lot of medical issues,no one knows with certainty! I remember asking a dr about something and he said truthfully we don’t know it’s like why do some die young from smoking and others live to 100.

Providing it hasn't or doesn't mutate then I see no reason why we should catch it a second time, we dont get other viruses a second time, of course flu mutates but we dont suffer badly unless our immune system is poor, as this virus is worse among that section of people it is surely logical that once we have had it we won't get it again at least in the short term.
If we can then we are f**ked good and proper, however I dont think that will be the case

The Professor in South Korea stated they had seen cases where people were reinfected. Logically there should be a degree of immunity to it a second time but as I stated elsewhere on the forum immunity takes time to build.

There are a few viruses out there that we can get over and over, Dengue ( 4 types ) being one of them, we dont get ill from each strain over and over, we get ill from each strain induvidually!

Badly worded, we can all get Dengue Fever of which there are 4 strains, however every one of the 4 strains can infect you even though you have already had one strain, simply put...…mutation other than the strain you already had.

I believe we should have more faith in our own immune system to deal with this little bug**r.

More evidence emerging from cruise ships and iceland that up to 50% of people will never show symptoms. Unless it has some long term effects potentially for half the world this virus will be a non event as far as their own health is concerned
