Chuck it through a neighbours sheep dip, if it doesn’t drown it’ll cure the itch!!
Probably not in any pet advisory books but I’ve heard it works 😉
I've also heard it can damage some dogs to the point that they end up dying from a nervous system failure.

Collie is scratching all the time presume some kind of parasite any suggestions appreciated
Try some frontline, if that doesn't work ask your vet to look.

We used too throw the dogs through the dip when I was a little nipper. Then they changed the active ingredient and we stopped very quickly after a neighbour had massive vets bills when 2 of his dogs had a bad reaction. Never done it since

We’ve got some form of shampoo for the dogs. Dowse with hose pipe, then work shampoo into skin really really well then leave a minute of two (that’s the bloody hard bit) then rinse out with warm water. I’ll have too ask the Mrs what it is we use. Frontline stopped working here and when I asked the vet why she said “you’d be as well piddling on the ticks now as using new frontline” again, I’ll have too ask the Mrs what the new produce we use for ticks on the collies is. Good gear.

We had a dog here years ago, rubbing and scratching himself raw and we tried all the usual spot on type things without success.Dad, without seeing any labels with warnings of possible fatalities ,gave him 1 ml of dectamax under the skin on his neck. Cured in a day

Tried flea collars here, expensive waste of money. It has to be tight enough to touch the skin, so on a hairy collie that means you're nearly choking it 😠. One gets Frontline Plus now, seems to work very well, the other is on a once a month tablet Nexgard Spectra that gets worms and ticks/fleas.

We haven't had to treat our dogs for passengers for several years, but had everything infested a month or so back. The only source I can think of is when two of my collies had to visit the vet's surgery a couple of months back, with one staying there all day to be sedated & X-rayed, then put in their kennels while she came round.

We did them all with Frontline, but it seems that not all the fleas were killed, even after a second dose a coupe of weeks later. I wonder if there is some resistance getting about?
Just had Nexgard Spectra tablets as a follow up, which seems to have cleared them.

A cynic might wonder if the vets are happy to spread fleas about, then sell the treatments to sort them.

Won’t hurt to consider a vet. Or just do an elimination diet while treating.

Had 3 cats, one particularly bad, diagnosed with mange. Vet tossed a variety of crap at them for mites. Multiple times. Never did much.

Second opinion diagnosed food allergies. Change of food so they aren’t eating chicken and presto! Fixed.

Got a dog breed that’s also known for allergies to chicken. She’s shown no signs yet but if she ever starts showing extra itchy and red skin a kibble switch will be the first thing I try on top of her regular defleaing.

Good call. (y) One of our terriers is very sensitive to which food he gets, not that it stops him grabbing anything he can get to of course..

I presume you actually think something of this dog and will not chuck it in the sheep dip! Those suggesting this should try having swim in it first to see how it affects them!

Look for fleas you can just see them on the belly usually. If so front line should work most agricultural stores will have it.

Alternatively it may be a food allergy which may have built up over time to one source of protein, eg chicken. Change the food to one with a different protein source.

Good luck.
