Fuel for the outboards is getting more expensive.

Cost of rubber dingies is going up.

Buying local means less trucks crossing channel with imports to jump on.

The best way to change society to be more sustainable is surely to have expensive food, fuel and energy.
Despite many environmentalists being acutely aware of this and extinction rebellion actively trying to create this situation, I haven't heard anyone mention it.

No votes in telling people they can't have what they want/have been used to.

No political mileage in it either, for "environmental lobbyists".

But it's obvious that we can't use as much resource per capita as we have over recent years, so most of us (I mean, those in richer, more developed economies) will have to cut back. Society isn't ready to accept it yet, though.

I don't think society in general will be ready until it's about 10 years too late...
