James Dyson tops UK Rich List

some one told me that on the TV breakfast show yesterday or this morning they where on about Dyson being on the rich list , saying "that what we need in the UK more manufactures" less Chinese stuff !!!! but there is nothing made here by Dyson anymore just to R&D that is pretty much common knowledge Not sure if that is an indication of the brains of Breakfast T presenter of failing of Mr Dyson

Dysons are a fancy looking product now I don't do much vacuuming at all so how come I still managed to "wear out" 3 of them (n)!!!

They sell on their name. Looks funky but in reality is pants. This loss of suction myth is BS as well because our machine sucks up stuff fine, if the bag was obstructing the airflow that much you would hear it because the motor goes mental if you block the flow. It's a myth.

Good luck to James Dyson. He is spending some of his earnings on building a farming empire and employs good people to run it. He's brave enough to maintain a high profile which means being an easy target to snipe at. He spends his BPS on investing in the productivity of the land, building stone walls, planting hedges, digging out ditches & draining the fen fields. Much of why he spends will deliver a return on that investment in years to come.

The green eyed monster is an ugly beast.

Best household vacuum by some distance I think and assembled in the UK ( i think ) from mainly UK made parts ( pretty sure the motor wont be) is a ----- HENRY ----- ours will lift your carpets up it sucks that much (y)
Yes. Made in Somerset. They make everything on site apart from motors. All the Injection molding was bought back from the far East a few years ago. Somerset also has the best car factory in the world.?

Good luck to James Dyson. . . . an easy target to snipe at.
Quite so Brisel, and I've sniped as low as anyone else on here.

Farming's always been a residual beneficiary of big financial inputs by outside investors using cash made elsewhere, in railways, steamships, steel and soap, for example.

Locally here, in fact, huge farm infrastructure input came directly from the enormous profits then being made at WH Smith, one of the great wonder businesses of the late 19th Century.

Unfortunately for him, the upcoming Corona wealth tax will surely live well on in tabloid infamy as the "Dyson Tax", just as HMG's entire emergency Corona budget will inevitably be coined "Dysongate".

I don't buy that rag at Rich List time, really don't care or understand the preoccupation with it. I'm still a long way from featuring!
Who's it for - do those on the list like to see where they are in the league year on year, like bragging rights?
Is it accurate anyway, don't the uber rich shield their loot offshore....

Jim Ratcliffe used to be top of the list , has he dropped
My socialist friends love the list, wanting every penny for the greater good. They don't like when I tell them it's only 'worth' and not readily accessible cash.

Nor do I, but I had to a couple of years ago when a mate sent me a rather cryptic text saying that my Mother was near the top. Which was rather surprising, so I trotted off and bought a copy.
It turned out that there was also an "alternative rich list" for those that have done the greater good, and she was third on the list!
Which is the nearest that any of my family will be to the proper list.

But farmland actually is readily accessible cash, at least it is compared to the big money invested in shopping malls and those who bet the farm on biotech start ups.

The best thing that we can hope for now is to see some big forced sales early on allowing traditional owner-occupiers' farmland wealth to depreciate in value faster than it can be taxed away.

As far as intu goes do you really expect anyone on here to sympathise with such greedy twits?

My boss is on the List. I'm not providing details but the List is only drawn up from desktop searches of assets in the public domain under the businesses these people own or are judged to own. ;)
