My eldest brother served under him and is pretty complimentary about the bloke (which is rare, my brother does not normally compliment officers). Far smarter than the average, apparently, and certainly adaptable. Soldier, author, and farmer.

I think it was refreshing to have a well reasoned debate around food production for once as a pose to the usual angry farmer vs. angry vegan rhetoric which seems to be so common these days. Jamie Blackett came across very well, well reasoned and well informed, and Madeline Olivia was also not a 'ram it down your throat, my way or the highway' style of vegan - more of that please BBC... I won't hold my breath though

Agreed. I listed to it in the car but, Madeleine still referred to modern day cattle sheds as “factory farming” which as Jamie pointed out isn’t.

He farms near us and is well recognised as being an excellent voice for not just farmers and agriculture but the wider rural sector and way of life. Unusually for Vine, he allowed a reasoned and sensible debate on both sides.

Good interview even if I did have to put up with Wines irritating voice. And he did get the point across that's not necessarily what you eat that's the problem, but has it been sustainabley produced. And in the end, the fact that it's all down to our massive overuse and dependency on fossil fuels and until we face up to this, nothing will change.
