Jcb 320s boom damping fault

I am after some help with the boom damping system on a JCB 320S which we have just bought.

It’s 5 year old and everything as far as I can tell works fine except the boom damping system. When you extend the boom fully it bangs hard and also when it’s fully retracted.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start?

I'm not 100% sure if I'm right on this, but I've been told the damping is done by a "valve" inside the ram cylinder and it can fail. Don't know if it can be refurbished or if replacement is the only way.

Thanks for the reply. I was working on the thought it gets slowed down just before it stops both ways which it doesn’t appear to be doing.

I will have a look on jcb parts website and see if it shows anything in boom.

Thanks

Check the boom position sensor- this tells the valve when to dampen. It can get dirty or fail. Its located under the boom held on with two bolts.
