Jcb 3cx drive problem

Hi, I’ve an older 2wd 3cx that has drive problems, when in forward or reverse on the shuttle box it will sometimes drive a bit then stop and a clunk comes from the rear axle like it’s jumping a cog.
Does anyone know what the issue sounds like, I’ve checked the prop and this is turning ok so I think it may be the rear end and not the gear box or clutch.
Many thanks

rear crown wheel and pinion? on the old ones there is a big tin cover on the back of the rear diff housing, if you drain the oil out you can take the cover off and easy see the crown wheel and see whats going on, my guess is its missing a few teeth!? (you will need a new gasket for the cover and they come in packs of 5 :X3: )

easy enough to take a look, but its quite an involved job to do crown wheel and pinion and i dont know what your skill set or tool box is like so cant really say if its a job you can do or not if it is crown wheel.

probably easier to get a used axle off a breaker if needed? probably looking near 2k for a new crown wheel set plus bearings and shims etc and anything else required.
