JCB 3cx eco

As title what does the eco stand for on a 2014 machine and What is the biggest engine fitted to these diggers, maybe looking to buy one and sell mine, what is my 2004 3cx worth? 7500 hrs roughly very tight machine quick hitch rear and Euro quick hitch on front 40 k and good rear tyres new fronts etc

a wild guess but maybe a slightly smaller engine to get round emission targets? I think this was the case with some construction spec jcb loadalls were they lost a few HP to get under emission target while keeping machine to a price for the hire markets?
@Sparkplug might know more about it?

By all accounts you’d be a lot better keeping your current digger my mate runs two 3cxs and they really arnt having much luck with the newer ones, his 04 plate was the best digger he’s had and did over 10,000 hours with no trouble

We've a 62 plate eco I think they're 90hp engine and it's not a 40k box but faster than 30k they're manual gearbox we got it second hand and have only had it for 1500 hrs but so far it's been faultless other than a couple of burst pipes which is a lot better than our last 3cx which was a 54 plate with precision controls

Eco is the eco dig bit basically fuel savings as it's as mch hydraulic flow/power at 11/1200 rpm as 1700

With regard to reliability, all JCB products marked T4i from 2013 onwards went down hill rapidly, and that still continues today as they stumble from one software upgrade to another - there maybe exceptions I am sure, but in general 2012 pre T4i are making more money at the auctions than T4i - that tells you all you need to know.
Generally on TH in Industrial/ Construction applications, all engines are 74.5 hp to avoid the Ad Blue, so you can imagine dragging a 12 ton Telehandler with 4 tons on the front through a foot of mud, it's first gear only!

There's few good servo machines on eBay at the moment, but I couldn't find 1 anywhere when we were looking to upgrade a while back. Blew the budget on another combine instead .

In my experience of servo machines steer clear I'm told the New ones are better but that one of ours caused some grief we were good at getting the rear spool bank in and out after a while !!!

What was going wrong? And is it nicer to drive than levers?
It kept blowing seals between the slices and cracked 2 slices for the main but of the dipper arm had 2 main hydraulic pumps was basically a money pit but nice to drive. It took me a fair bit of getting used to the levers again even now I'm not as fast as I used to be it's the distance you need to move the levers to get between functions compared to the joysticks but I quite like being able to jump onto either machine now

I was told they changed the hydraulic system on the newer ones to the same as the 360° machines so should be fine now

One thing I did notice was the seat had a bit of a wobble on the pivot and if you got a shake on it got really bad as you and the joysticks got a shake on as well!

About the most annoying thing is you had to move the steering wheel to get the seat round as the right-hand joystick gets in the way

Other thing is I'm not sure what they're like now but I spoke to someone that had one that when the seat is facing forward the right joystick works the loader and when it's backwards works the dipper isn't good for getting yourself unstuck if needed.

Ours is a 60 plate eco with servo controls, so far its been faultless. Ours has the 100hp engine and easily does 40k as the tractors struggle to keep up with me on the flat.

Yours will be the contractor then I think we were just unlucky to have an early version of the servo controls but it was certainly enough to put us off and went for a simpler version although I would like a 4cx if I got the chance!

Our 3cx has front and back servo and it's really nice to use but it is much more difficult to walk yourself out of a wet spot.
I prefer using the toetip on the digger than forklift as it's so smooth.
