JCB 3CX stuck in reverse

I have an old grey cab 3cx with the shuttle lever to left of steering wheel. I had noticed it a bit sticky when coming out of reverse over last few days but perfectly smooth into reverse and in and out of forward. It has now stuck in reverse. Completely solid, won't move. Still driving perfectly in reverse and changing gears. Any ideas what the problem is

On the JCB parts finder, your serial number isn't recognised in the search box but in the models menu it is in the range of a 3D from 1987-88. I've seen this before on a machine (grey cab)that had 3CX on the mudguards and also 3CX 4 on the id plate but to find part numbers for it I had to go into the 3D listings.Don't know why JCB did this but afaik,a 3CX sitemaster is identical to a 3D with extending dipper anyway.
It's strange though, that your shuttle is cable operated as it was used on the older Borg Warner transmissions on white and early black cabs. Synchro Shuttle came in then and followed on to the grey cabs and beyond and had a yellow stalk/switch on the lhs of the steering column which operated 2 solenoids on top of the transmission.
Is there a chance the cab has been changed on your machine? Or any chance of a picture?
