So changed then fuel filter on it the last day because was getting hard started, and filter was dirty.

Come next day it's still hard started not as long cranking time...I took off the filter'checked etc bled the fuel lines etc.
Cranks for long time but will start' when been started it's fine throughout the day or if sat for few hours might take a small crank to go.

Only conclusion I can thing is fuel is leaking back out? (Could stick non return valve if on if is)
Or is there a problem of this happening' need help.

Before cranking it over, leave the ignition on for a few seconds so the electric fuel pump on top of the primary fuel filter has a chance to fill the pipework. You should hear it buzzing when you turn the ignition on.

I dont know JCB like i know manitou but i guess a 530-70 is old pre electric lift pumps.
Replace the mechanical lift pump, check fuel lines back to tank.
Clean tank
Replace the fuel filler neck hose if perished, (these are sh!t on the newer models, very old ones had better thicker rubber) nicely positioned to get all the mud and water thrown off the rear wheel?

Clean the fuel sediment bowl next to the cab step, should have a mesh filter in it too, check the bowl for distortion as it could be sucking air.

and as said make sure its cranking the engine nicely with out struggling, nothing worse than slow cranking.

We have a 54 reg 530-70, this happened us twice.

1st was fuel lift pump
2nd was cracked filter housing/tube going onto hose

It is going good now but could really do with a stop solenoid

if you think it wants a stop solenoid because the engine is running on after you turn key off your wrong! this is a common fault with the delphi injector pump and is the latch valve faulty.

And i could be wrong but i would think a 530-70 was stopped production in about late 2002? after that it became the 531-70 and for a short time had the 1100 perkins engine with the crap electric lift pump, now replaced with a better version from perkins but plenty of aftermarket junk ones about :X3:

If i'm wrong and yours does have the later 1100 series engine then it will have the perkins electric lift pump/filter unit. These are well known for failing.

Pretty sure those have a gauze in the end of the auction pipe that goes down into fuel tank. They are only small and block really easily.
Plant hire place I was at used to remove them all from day 1.
Unfortunately it's a tank off job to do it.

I think the 530-70 was made until late 05?

Ours is the perkins turbo engine. Is the latch valve a pump off job?

If its got the Filter head Perkins lift pump and Delphi injection pump, even if the lift pump is working (they dont last much more than 2 yrs ) the chances are the Delphi pump is worn out - they're made of cheese and exaberated by the lift pump being **after** the filter and the chocolate brass gears inside slowly shed metal into the inj pump.
