JCB 530-70 shifting clonk.

When you shift from forward to reverse, the gearbox gives the propshafts and axles a nasty snatch. It has always done this and is more apparent in 1 st gear. With vehicle stationary and on tick over makes no difference. (I wonder how long the UJ s will put up with this). It 2003 model. Drives fine apart from this. Any advice please.

Sounds normal imo!

Use a higher gear. 1st is useless no one uses first!

Or buy a manitou cause they fit pressure modulation valves/ soft shift on the forward reverse selection?

Also check rear axle pivot bushings for end float and wear as that will clonk too when shuttling.
