my friend has a jcb 530 70 telehandlier that all of a sudden lost 4 th gear. It continues to drive in all other gears ok.i looked under the boom between the cab on the machine s chassis and located a block of 4 solenoid s next the cab.are these related to selecting the 4 gears of the transmission. Do these machines suffer from bad or correded wiring problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I had this problem with my cat th but mine lost 2nd gear, i thought it was the solenoid but turned out it was,nt, going to replace the twist lever in the cab now that selects the gears.

does it just remain in 3rd even when switch is in 4th? same for forward and reverse? ive had no 4th for a while but as rarely goes far ive never actually investigated, mine is one with 5 solenoinds and the black box/trans ecu bolted on top of them.

Yes it remains in 3rd gear when 4th is selected,

Did you sort this problem?
no funnily enough i've just been to a mates tonight only about 3 mile away and i was just thinking to myself i could do with looking at this. It is quite rare it leaves the village. and it generally lives in 2nd gear around the yard. goes to mates to help roll his silage couple a times a yr takes ten mins longer but its no real trouble. maybe one wet day I'll investigate. I did lose 2nd in reverse a couple month ago i found a broken wire to the solenoid that had been repaired at some point before. a fresh crimp and that was sorted. I think its probably easier a 2 man job someone under with multi-meter and someone clicking through the gears, I'm usually on my own. Thats my excuse at least. Have you the same issue?
