JCB 542-70 Boom locked

Afternoon, our 542-70 telehandler joystick won’t do anything. When you try and operate the joystick a boom lock symbol comes up on the screen. If you press and hold the override button the joystick works but when you let go it stops again.

Has anyone had the same problem?
Cheers

Is the boom retracted fully?

Doesn’t seem to make a difference if it in or out
Is the sensor intact on the boom where it joins the second stage? The load sensor will not reset in some cases if that sensor isn’t seeing a connection. Check the plastic sensor and the metal bits not bent. Put a mower blade across the magnets to create a connection.
There should be a light change on the load sensor if it’s working

Check there’s not a break in the heating element style wire in the right hand window, it’s a safety device so if the window breaks you can’t put your head out the side and decapitate yourself, but it’s quite delicate.

All looks good. Is there a way of bridging the wires to rule it out?

Tried a mower blade and no change. There no more lights coming on the load sensor

Sounds like it’s not getting the message the boom is retracted which could stop the load sensor resetting hence you having to hold the override button in
Look for a broken wire or something

Get a man in with a laptop to see whats going on, it will be far easier than guessing.
Your 100% right on getting a man in with a laptop to see whats going on allow when mine played up i did get a man(boy) in with laptop and he just said computer say no so his company sent another boy out with another computer and computer said no again , i had 4 visits with laptop and no luck in fixing problem ,at the time i did not now that they had done some damage to some wires in cab , anyway i phoned a man up thats been out in the past and he said you dont need a laptop as it wont show up the problem , he said its probably a wire behind the front cover i will come and look and it was , we then found these other wires that had been cut and patched up , not sure why they cut them but was all new tape around them , anyway this other chap fixed my boom when it stopped working without using a laptop

All sorted now, there was a little scratch through the window safety element wire. Disconnected the terminal and put it to earth. All seems well. Thanks for your help!
