Hi looking for some pointers as to where to start with this. The handbrake is releasing as normal but the light and the buzzer stay on. This is on a 2002 3185. Is the light activated by an air pressure switch or in the handbrake leaver itself.

regards

I had that on a manitou, unfortunately the linkage was slightly rusty and not releasing completely, just enough to activate the handbrake light but not enough to make it feel as if the brake was still on, I thought it was dirt under the handbrake lever, when I cleaned it out the light went off but the brakes were still binding it very quickly wore through the brake linings :(

The one I used to drive, of similar vintage used to do this a lot. Do check the handbrake is actually releasing if you continue driving it as any chaff or dust lying around and it will be BBQ before you know what hit you. Used to frighten me to death.

all the comments on this say handbrake fault

And if your driving someone else machine making a YouTube montage of it burning makes you look like a tit

Im confident this is releasing as can turn the back wheels by hand with it jacked up and in neutral. Im just trying to ascertain how the dash gets the signal for the handbrake warning light to do some further fault finding.

Have you checked the fuses. The buzzer/handbrake light wouldn't go off on my 2170 one morning. Turned out it was a fuse had blown. Its same 1 as runs flow divider. It was this that had caused fuse to blow on mine.

Check your brake fluid Level

(DoT4) Reservoirs just below the steps into the cab if they are low,it will let the buzzer off in the cab .
If it’s going off you may have a leak? But It’s a normal sign that your brake pads are on the way out.
