Our jcb will only go backwards, no forward gears! we have changed the solenoid, now it is in reverse when the lever is in any position including neuteral. Anybody have any idea whats wrong with it please?

Thanks folks, its an old 1996 jcb 526/25 , have tested the fnr lever, its ok, changed the solenoid and filter, nasty feeling the transmission is blown as found metal bits in trans oil Anyone know the best place to get a replacement ?

You mean its a 526-55. Rebuild it. (assuming the rest of the machine is worth the expense? sometimes machines just aren't!) if you want to get it out and put it back in i know a man that will overhaul it for you and dyno test it after.

That could be a good option for someone with uncertainties as to a rebuild.

what does it do with the wires TAKEN OFF the solenoids?
oif it still goes backwards, id suggest gearbox needs a look. Otherwise, as our 2cx had, it will likely be a wire rub
