I've seen a 2006 JS130 advertised locally. Says its in good condition and priced at 16k.
Would it be an ok farm digger, to replace our early 80s Yumbo? Just a bit of drainage and ditch cleaning. May get used to load muck spreader to.

We have one think it’s a 2012 so a bit newer but does everything your wanting to do also dug out tree stumps and done the foundations for our grain store. Just give it a good check over and make sure nothing excessively worn and sure it will be fine. The local groundwork’s guy went with us to view as we weren’t sure what to all look for so probably handy if you can find someone that knows them to have a look at it with you.

Should say that the old digger has been here for over 20 years and been ultra reliable. But tracks are knackered now and got lots of oil leaks so don't want to spend on it.

If the mentioned one above is £16k it will probably be fine and we’ll built unlike some newer stuff.go on condition and check slew ring play.probably a sumitomo based machine aswell

Glad our old JCB is still going well................ Look for slew ring play, chain play and sprockets on the tracks. Also that the pump has enough power to lift the machine up. With the isuzu engine they are pretty bomb proof.

We got 2007 js130 great investment dug slurry lagoons silos for us and we got a 1994 js130 that’s still going too just for loading around the yard now. Stick to pre 2008 machines with Isuzu engines after that they stuck jcb engines in and were a bit unreliable. We paid 17,500 for ours two years ago with 6800 hours on it if that helps. Otherwise we haven’t spent Much money on either. They’ll pay for themselves after a few big jobs.

they did not put their own engines in till about 11/12.......but the 07 to 11 izuzu engines were not as bullet proof as the earlier ones ......but that can be said of a lot of early common rail engines

Its a 14 tonner that we have just now so used to that size. I would go down to an 8 tonne class but dad isn't keen to go smaller.
A 2006 JS130 will be 15-16 tonnes so more than a match for your old machine, good reliable machine ime just do the usual checks track chains and drives etc also slew ring for play and just dig a hole it should have bags of digging power and if no major oil leaks get her bought

Well slightly out of the box did a deal with local dealer for a 2000 js130 that they had just taken in. Phoned him to see if he had a road for my old Yumbo and he offered a decent deal to change.

Slightly older than i wanted but all seems tight. Time will tell if its the right decision. Hopefully see us a few years as we don't do much.

Seen many jcb js130 on site often they have had hard life,
Ok there cheap but really don't understand why farmers buy them

One i have bought has been a farm machine for last 10 years. Farmer swapped it for a newer one. Been well looked after
I'd have loved to have a much newer Jap digger with low hours but couldn't justify it for clearing ditches and patching drains.

Really. Almost every post on this page is from people who own them and or run them. Obviously their opinions pale into insignificance compared to Bob the chainsmoking shakey bucket.

Actually that’s not fair to Bob, he’s entitled to his opinions but at least it is HIS opinion isn’t it.

Personally I think the JS 130, especially the older 145 sized digger with Isuzu engine and Kawasaki pump offer outstanding bang for buck, fast, nice Hydraulics and reliable too.
